African anti-corruption leaders have gathered in Algiers for the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Association of African Anti-Corruption Authorities (AAACA), which officially began today, 21st July, and runs through 22nd July 2025. The meeting follows a high-level commemoration of African Anti-Corruption Day, held yesterday under the theme “Promoting Human Dignity in the Fight Against Corruption.”

The AGM brings together representatives of anti-corruption authorities from over 43 African nations, united in the fight against corruption and focused on practical strategies, particularly the recovery of stolen public assets.

Zambia is represented by the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Commission, Mrs. Daphne Pauline Soko Chabu, and the Assistant Director for Corruption Prevention, Mr. Never Sakala. Their participation underscores Zambia’s commitment to regional collaboration and its support for the continent-wide push for asset recovery and accountability.

The Annual General Meeting is expected to conclude with renewed commitments and joint resolutions aimed at intensifying the fight against corruption and strengthening the role of anti-corruption institutions across Africa.
